To 1967 worked in two geological enterprises in Bulgaria in the field of mineral resources prospecting and exploration: radioactive metals and industrial minerals. From 1967 has been working in Geological Institute of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences: researcher (1973), associate researcher professor (1990-2010), Head of Laboratory of Petrology and Metasomatisme (1993-2005), Deputy Director of the Institute (2000-2005); from January 2010 – honorary ass. Professor.

Geologist in B.R.P.M., Morocco (1969 to 1973). Academic 1983-1984 – invited associated professor at Laboratory in Petrography and Volcanology, University Paris-Sud, France; fellowship of the Ministry of Scientific Researches of France for one-semester researches in Laboratory of Mineralogy-Crystallography at University Paris VI-VII, France (1991-1992); three months of researches at University of Pisa, Italy on NATO fellowship (1994); two months of researches in Institute de Physique du Globe de Paris (1996); 2 months as invited professor at Laboratory of Magmatic Petrology, University of Aix-Marseille - III, France (1995) and one-month as invited professor in Laboratory of Petrography and Volcanology at University Paris-Sud (1997).

Worked on or coordinated many projects of the Geological Institute (especially with Bulgarian Science Foundation of the Ministry of the Education and Science) as well as researches implemented in collaboration with other geological institutions. Consulting of the prospecting and research works of the ex-society “Rare Metals”, ex-Ministry of the Mineral Recourses, Ministry of Water and Environment, Geology and Geophysics AD, Magma-97 AD, Ankerpoort NV, etc. Participated in or coordinated multi- and bilateral projects with various scientific institutions of Central and Eastern Europe, C.N.R.S. (France), C.N.R. (Italy), C.G.R.I. and F.W.O. (Belgium), European Union (P.E.C.O. program).
